This coming Thanksgiving weekend is Loscon, the Los Angeles Regional Science Fiction Convention, held at the LAX Marriott on Century Blvd, and the Fictionados will be running a Spontaneous Writers Workshop panel Saturday from 1:30 to 4:30. This workshop is a quick critique session to show writers who have not been working with a group or doing workshops just what to expect if they suddenly find themselves kidnapped by a group of genre writers, in addition to providing some constructive feedback. If you are interested, and are going to be at Loscon, bring a page to read aloud (that would be a standard format manuscript page, so no more than 250 words, please), and the panel will offer quick crit and get some audience feedback. There will be a first-come, first-served sign up sheet at the panel (which is a double-length, 3-hour session) as we expect to get more people with pages to critique than we can fit in to the time slot. More information about Loscon can be had at http://www.loscon.org.

Locus is now taking votes for its 2006 Poll, which means it’s time for the first of many posts asking for your votes. Please use the following guide to help put some Fictionados (and Fictionados friends!) over the top. Or, at least, keep us from getting stuck at the bottom. Thanks!

Best Novelette: Stoddard, Panacea
Best Short Story: McCarron, Close to You
Best Publisher: Wheatland
